Sweets For Your Sweet - Simple Valentine's Day Surprise

When I grew up my Mum always said Valentines Day was a bit of a commercial waste of time so there were never any grand romantic gestures other than the very very occasional red rose, and I mean maybe exchanged once or twice on this day, in the house I grew up in... I was also definitely not one of those girls that had valentines day cards and flowers streaming in from interested suitors in my school years, yes I was a Loreto girl - catholic, all girls, you get the drift - but even if I'd been in a co-ed environment it wouldn't have changed a thing for me!!!.

Now that I have my own home, and a permanent live in Valentine, I like to celebrate the day as a way of simply being grateful for one another above and beyond anything else ... making an extra effort to turn off the tv, mobiles and computer, setting the table, firing up Marvin Gaye's greatest hits and having a nice meal without distraction. I'll generally bake something nice for dessert and we'll just spend quality time together... there is nothing too commericial about that, I think even my dear mother would approve!!.

On a cute and crafty note I found these two activities that would be so simple and sweet to make for your loved ones - thinking I may surprise Adam with these cookies and a wrapped travel cup to go on the 14th.

  1. Love those pics. The cookies look devine! I definitely wasn't one of those girls who got cards and flowers in highschool either. I remember always hoping for a card to be slipped into my locker but alas...no. Not once!! Ha. x

I was thinking the same thing with these cookies... I love those Heart lollies they are so cute, although I've seen some questionable examples at Hen's nights over the years as you can imagine!!!!.

  5. I'm not much of a Valentine's Day celebrator either though I do like the idea of having an excuse to reflect upon and be grateful for the special person in our lives. Your plans sound perfect.
