My Vintage Inspired Christmas Tree

I thought I'd share some images of my tree this year. I love Christmas decorating and after 6 years of married life my husband enjoys it more and more which is even nicer!. We've collected a lot of decorations over the years and I make an effort to buy decorations when we travel overseas. We have decorations from New Delhi, Paris, Versai, Rome and London and some vintage decorations that belonged to my Aunt Celine who was known for her to the minute kitsch 60's style think teak, Tretchikoff's, fiber optic fountain lamps, yellow roses and fuscia pink lippy!.

Each year the crowning jewel on our tree is the over-sized vintage inspired glass baubles I picked up in Richmond... they're the size of a melon and my siblings and I own 150 of them - long story short they were being cleared as a lot so we bought them all!!.

Merry Christmas
xx

  1. your treescape is ultra pin-worthy. beautiful colours and contrasts, my fave is the white circular scandi looking cut outs, and the beads/pom pom chain(?) on the antlers is seriously stylish x

    1. Max, thank you so much :-)!! Thrilled you like the look and the scandi felt decorations - I made the pom pom garland from felt balls and string so it is a thrill to know you like it!. xx Tina

    1. Thanks Pippa! Tree shopping is the best isn't it, we've had this one for 6 years so it has been a while since I've tree shopped, no doubt there are some amazing options around or are we talking the real thing?... either way I really look forward to viewing the Ouchflower Christmas extravaganza!. Enjoy your spree tomorrow :)

  4. Loving your gorgeous tree Tina. I do like a white tree. Alas! After a couple of years ours turned yellow. And not in a good way! I like how your tree is tall and skinny - I don't think I've seen one like it before...
I really like your red stool too and your pom-pom decked antlers.
Aunty Celine sounds perfect, I wish I had an Aunty like her!

    1. So lovely of you Kylie thank you xo. Yellow tinged tree, ok I can work with this, ours is 6 years old how long do I have?? It is an unusual width forits height, which I loved and haven't seen around either, gives that mid century feel and fits our small apartment like space well.
Aunty Celine was totally retro chic that's for sure, when the family cleared out her home in the 90's it was like a time capsule from 1965!. xx Tina

    1. Hey Allison,
Thanks you for your lovelyness xx. Go the melons ;-) I love them too!!. Red peacocks - so festive and sound gorgeous... the skulls were bought in Paris and most people hate them on our tree except you, me and Adam - thanks for loving them like we do.

  6. The tree looks beautiful and I love the oversized baubles. I love collecting decorations when I travel and most of my decos are vintage, just because I have had them so long! x

    1. Hey Natalie,
Your tree is gorgeous and the picture flicking effect is so high tech, I could never do that! I did think of you when I decided to go the colour option, as we are in such small numbers this year... I do love the look of a pared back Christmas but I just can't resist the tizz and fizz that colour brings!. xx Tina

  8. Awww what a lovely tree!!! I've just started getting all my friends' kids ornaments each year, as something to collect for the years to come. I've got some from my aunty over the years and they are quite special. I love me a white tree too! Kel x

    1. Thanks so much Kel! Such a lovely gesture to collect for your friends kids, no doubt your aunt's decos are fabulous, such a great thing to have ornaments handed down, isn't it! :). So glad your into the white tree, my parents had a white plastic 60's tree that we had right through my childhood in the 80's so I just knew my tree had to be the same!. Merry Christmas xx Tina
