Vintage Style Honeycomb Paper Bell & Thrifty Buys

Well the Christmas count down is officially on! I'm looking forward tree decorating this weekend and listening to my fave old school carols sung by Bing Crosby, Dean Martin, Etta James and my favourite Christmas album Ella (Fitzgerald) Wishes You A Swinging Christmas - no one sings carols better than Ella - FYI there are no keys in a bowl action going in Ella's "swinging" wishes I promise!!. Another fave Christmas song  is Donny Hathaway's This Christmas, released in 1970... my hubby and I enjoy a lil dance to this one each year!.

So in the "Christmas Spirit" of all things vintage and old school I bought two honeycomb paper bells that I fondly remember my Aunties having in all the colours of the rainbow when I was a little one... thinking I'll hang these above the Christmas table this year... if only I'd kept the vintage originals!.

you can buy similar from lark made - here

and on the Thirfty Saturday front here are two vases I found at the local store... The Milk Glass above was $3 and the shell shaped wall vase below $4...

Have a lovely weekend!
xx

  1. I love both vases, especially the shell.
And I know folks who would kill for that milk glass!

Your paper bells are lovely Rebecca, vintage or not. Your Aunty's would've been horribly dusty anyway. We don't pull out the decs until 12 days before the big day, I've got lots of vintage ones - stay tuned x

  2. What great vases!....loving the shell, very kitsch. We had the paper deccys when kids....was such a thrill to unfold them each year.....that crunchy sound they make....always a little more faded and torn than the year before?....happy decorating!

    1. Oh Pippa your retro decs sounds great, I look forward to seeing them on Ouchflower or perhaps the Thrift Collective!? I LOVE the wooden star clusters from Lark they are so completely retro!.
Kicking myself for not buying these fantastic plywood teak looking babushkas and deers from Cotton on Kids, of all places, a few months ago - they were mobiles but would have made the best vintage style nordic decs for this year, don't you hate that!!.
