My Favourite Buys January 2015

Thought I'd share some of my favourite buys with you today and some instagram pics of the week at the same time. I'm generally not very brand focused when I shop. I like great value and max visual impact whether I'm spending $5 or $500 and I get bored with my interior easily and often hunt for new objects to freshen up my look. At the moment I'm on the hunt for some fabulous plates and serving ware which I'll share in another post...

This month I'm loving the following -

Pink salt lamp -
My Himalayan pink salt lamp. This beauty not only looks like a big chunk of Rose Quartz, when heated by the flame of a tea light candle, is also said to reduce allergens, moisture and pollutants in the air. It also looks great as part of a coffee table vignette clustered with greenery and books.
Plywood frame
Born from a botched DIY project these long pieces of timber were nailed together in an attempt to create a frame. $3 a piece at Bunnings, this creation has now become a fabulous display piece in my home for draping foliage and fairy lights.
Wall Decals
I know these wall decals have been around for a while but I honestly I adore them. I'm a renter so they are like the best thing since removable wall hooks! I have gold and copper decals on my kitchen wall currently and they really add a bit of fun and whimsy to the space.
Three favourites in this pic. The gem mirror from West Elm - gosh I love this lil beauty. I think I found the last one in Melbourne and I use it as a trivet on my side table.

Real Living Magazine is the next fave featured here, The colours, the products and the styling - it's all too gorgeous! Definitely a favourite monthly read and source of inspiration.

Saving the best till last is my leopard print Michael Kors Chrono watch. This one is MK-5904 which is an older variation of the MK Bradshaw shape and it works back with so many looks.

Enjoy your weekend!

To Mimco Or Not To Mimco??

I've been a major Mimco fan for years and years... when I worked at an accessories agency many moons ago my boss gave me a cute clutch for Christmas and I was hooked. Adam's been known to purchase the odd Mimco accessory for me and it has always gone down a treat, the leather is buttery, the findings are solid and the zip closures are like silk (nothing worse then a rough zip!).

However for a while there I lost faith, we broke up, I was no longer hooked!. I found their range lacked something, no longer did I swoon, save my pennies or get that must have feeling... I'm still trying to work out my relationship with the jewellery, we were great friends, now not so much but I can say I think I've fallen again, for the bags anyway, and here are some of my current likes... I must admit I actually have the wallet and one of the bags listed below, so all is not lost ;-).

Do you have a handbag label you love and can recommend with a bit of a Mimco aesthetic but perhaps without the price tag, if I can be so cheeky!!!

Vintage Mexican Folk Dresses - An Old Favourite!

For as long as they have been in fashion (like forever!!) I have always loved Mexican folk dresses... I've bought a few over the years but sadly the fit has been wrong and while I have every intention of having them adjusted to fit, I never get around to it and so they sit in the cupboard unused...

Here are some sweet examples that I'm loving.. my wish list includes a white kaftan inspired cheesecloth dress with a smocked waist and hand embroidered flowers in navy blue and red... oh and two long strings coming from the neckline each ending with a tassle.

I never thought I'd see the day! See I told y'all that mexican dresses were stylin!!!

Putting the V in Vintage for Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival

I love this time of year, summer is gearing up, the festive season will soon be upon us and people are starting to embrace the fun side of life entertaining friends and putting their feet up. Melbourne's Spring Racing Carnival is, if nothing else, a great excuse to frock up with friends, share some bubbles (spiked or not) and have some fun.

Next Tuesday's Melbourne Cup is a great way to view current fashion trends and the creativity that exists within the Australian fashion scene... I'm talking the Birdcage, Members and above not so much the car park, crazy fancy dress, general admission looks!!!.

In the spirit of all things hat related I've found some vintage looks that will set your heart racing! Apologies for the pun!.
